Powertrain
A 95 hp diesel engine with four cylinders is used as an entry . With 230 Nm of torque, this offers sufficient power for most tasks and journeys, but is rather leisurely on the road. The driving performance of the Toyota Hiace shows it very clearly: after all, the model needs 22.4 seconds to reach a speed of 100 km/h , but the top speed of 147 km/h is absolutely sufficient.
If this performance of the entry-level engine is not enough for you, you can choose a more powerful version with at least 117 hp . This provides a significantly higher torque: 294 Nm are specified as a maximum. As a result, the driving performance is also better, after all , the Toyota Hiace with the more powerful engine only takes 18.6 seconds to 100 km/h . The top speed also increases compared to the other version, with a maximum of 152 km/h.
In general, Toyota promises low consumption for the vehicle, and the decision to use a diesel engine is clearly noticeable here. Both variants should only consume 8.5 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers . The Toyota Hiace always shifts gears manually and customers have to be content with the small van with rear-wheel drive. The only exception is the Hiace panel van: this model could be ordered with an optional all-wheel drive.

The Toyota Hiace is designed as a commercial vehicle and accordingly offers a lot of space , a high payload and perfect conditions for the commercial and private transport. At least 4.8 meters long and 1.8 meters wide and two meters high make the vehicle a classic van. The long version of the vehicle offers even more space at up to 5.2 meters in length. The turning circle is exactly twelve meters, so the vehicle is still comparatively manoeuvrable.
